  On Wednesday, June 30th occurred the marriage of Miss Ella Dersey and Charles Hoffart, by the Rev. Father Kenney, of Mohawk Hill. Congratulations are extended by their numerous friends. Mr. and Mrs Hoffart are spending their honeymoon in Warren, Pa.

  LOUIS E. MACKAY WEDS MISS CLARA H. HOFFART
  Louis E. Mackay, son of Mr. and Mrs. William Mackay and Miss Clara H. Hoffart, daughter of Joseph C. Hoffart of Constableville, were married at 8 o'clock at St. Michael's Church, Mohawk Hill by Rev. A. Vollmar, pastor of the church. The attending couple were Bernard Mackay, brother of the groom and Agnes Hoffart, sister of the bride. After the ceremony the couple left for a short wedding trip. Congratulations are extended to the young couple.

  Boonvillle - George Geiskopf, son of Mr. and Mrs. George Geiskopf, this village, and Angeline Hoffert, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Hoffert, also of Boonville, were united in marriage Monday at St. Joseph's church by Rev. Thomas F. McNeill.
  They were attended by Wilson Geiskopf, Boonville, and Miss Susie Geiskopf, Utica, brother and sister of the bridegroom.

  Lee Center - Anna L. Olney, 83, of Lot 31, North Winds Manor, died on Friday, December 4, 1992, at Rome City Hospital, after a long illness.
  She was born in Sunset Corners in the Town of Lewis, on May 30, 1909, a daughter of Frank and Carrie Shake Hoffert. Her younger life was spent in the area of West Leyden. At the age of 16, she moved to Utica where she was employed in the Utica Knitting industry. She later was employed at Dunlop Tire Co., for 19 years.
  Mrs. Olney had attended St. Joseph's Church of Lee Center and St. Joseph's Church of Boonville.
  Besides her husband, she is survived by four sisters, Rose Roberts and Clara Parsons, of DeLand, Fla.; Theresa Hoffert, Utica; and Margaret Hoffert, Rome; one brother, Ervin J. Hoffert, Port Leyden; and was predeceased by three sisters, Mary and Bertha Hoffert and Cecelia Hinds, and by a brother, Raymond. Also surviving is a special friend, Debbie Finster, Lee Center.
  Service on Monday at 8:30 a.m. at the Trainor Funeral Home, Boonville, and at 9 at St. Joseph's Church, Boonville. Interment in White Lake Cemetery, Woodgate. Friends may call on Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m.

  A barn belonging to Benjamin Kotary, of Fish Creek, was struck by lightning early Saturday and burned to the ground. The barn was 40 x 86 feet and was situated on the Bernard Hoffert farm, purchased by Mr. Kotary. A small quantity of hay and farming implements were destroyed. The loss was partially covered by insurance.

  Miss Bertha Hoffert, 69, of Albany, formerly of the West Leyden area, died Wednesday, May 27, 1981, in the Albany Medical Center, after being hospitalized since March 20.
  Born in West Leyden on April 11, 1912, she was a daughter of Frank and Carrie Shake Hoffert. She was once employed by a laundry and a knitting mill in Utica.
  Miss Hoffert and her sister, Mary Hoffert, were employed as domestics in the Albany and Schenectady area where they resided for many years. Miss Hoffert was a Catholic.
  Surviving besides her sister of Albany are six other sisters, Mrs. Lee (Anna) Olney and Miss Margaret Hoffert, both of Rome; Mrs. Rose Roberts, Rome and Deland, Fla.; Miss Thresa Hoffert, Utica; Mrs. Raymond (Ceil) Hines, Lynn, Mass., and Mrs. Earl (Clara) Parsons, DeLeon Spa, Fla, and a brother, Ervin Hoffert, West Leyden.
  Services will be held at 9 a.m. Saturday at the Trainor Funeral Home, Boonville, and at 10 in St. Peter and Paul's Church, Fish Creek. Burial will be in St. Peter and Paul's Cemetery.
  Calling hours are 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday.

  Mrs. Nicholas Kirk, little daughter Rita and son Erwin and his friend Mary Anna went to Rome Sunday to bid farewell to Mrs. Kirk's brother, Eugene Hoffert and family, who are moving to Schenectady.
  There were also many other relatives with them, including Bernard Hoffert and family, Port Leyden; Mr. and Mrs. Earl Callahan of Syracuse; Mr. and Mrs. Harold Malony and family and Mrs. Julia Courtney of Rome, and others of Camden.
  All regret their departure but best wishes of their friends go with them to their new home.

  FRANK HOFFERT
  BORN IN TOWN OF LEWIS, OCTOBER 18, 1880; DIED MARCH 20, 1927

  Frank Hoffert, 68, died Sunday morning at his home five miles west of West Leyden, after an illness of many months duration.
  Mr. Hoffert was born in the town of Lewis, October 18, 1869, a son of the late Mathis and Elizabeth Hoffert. He followed the occupation of farming throughout his life and met with considerable success. He was a member of St. Peter's and Paul's church of Fish Creek and of West Leyden Grange. Twenty-five years ago at Rome, he married Miss Caroline Shake.
  Besides his wife, he leaves seven daughters, Misses Clara and Anna of Utica; Bertha, Rose, Clara, Theresa at home; two sons Raymond and Irving at home; four sisters, Mrs. Elizabeth Bazler, Constableville; Mrs. Mary Lane, Nebraska; Mrs. Jacob Kirk, West Leyden; Mrs. Joseph Seelman, Constableville; and a brother, Joseph, Constableville.
  The funeral was held from St. Peter's and Paul's church yesterday at 10 a.m. with interment in Fish Creek cemetery.

  MRS. JENNIE KIRK DIES

  BOONVILLE - Mrs. Jennie J. Kirk 82, widow of Nicholas Kirk, died this morning at the home of a son, Lawrence, Boonville, where she had lived since 1961.
  The funeral will be Monday at 9 a.m. at the Trainor funeral home, and at 9:30 from St. Joseph's church, Boonville. Burial will be in St. Mary's cemetery, Constableville.
  Friends may call at the funeral home this evening from 7 to 9 and Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. The rosary will be recited Sunday at 8 p.m.
  Surviving besides her son Lawrence, are three other sons, Francis, Boonville, Erwin Port Leyden, and Edwin, Constableville; three daughters, Mrs. Rita Ingersoll, Camden, Mrs. Lucinda Blum, Rome, Mrs. Joseph Witten, Beaumont, Tex; three brothers, Barnard Hoffert, Poland, Eugene Hoffert, Schenectady, and ANthony Hoffert, Camden; two sisters Mrs. James McCanney, and Mrs. Angeline Homan, Carthage; 24 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.

  Joseph C. Hoffert, an aged resident of the town of West Turin, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. William Sullivan, Thursday afternoon at 4 o'clock, after an illness of some time. 
  He was born on the old homestead in the town of Lewis, June 24, 1858, a son of Mattis and Elizabeth Kraeger Hoffert, and his life was spent in this locality. February 2, 1886, he married Miss Theresa Hoffman, who died October 21, 1921. Mr. Hoffert was a member of St. Peter and Paul's church at Fish Creek, and also a member of the West Leyden Grange. For a number of years he resided on the farm known as the Littaye place near this village.
  He is survived by five daughters and one son, Mrs. William Ruff, Mrs. William Sullivan, Mrs. Andrew Mackay, Constableville; Mrs. Harold Alexander, Elmire; Miss Oliva Hoffert, Lyons Falls, and Albert Hoffert, of West Leyden; 18 grandchildren and one great grandchild.
  The body was taken to the home of Mrs. William Ruff by Undertaker Clarence W. Trainor. The funeral was held from the home at 9:30 and from St. Peter and Paul's church at 10:30 on Monday.

  The death of Mrs. Joseph Baltzar occured at the home of her son, William Domser, Saturday, July 19, after an illness of one week. Death was caused by a cerebral hemorage. 
  Elizabeth Hoffert was a daughter of the late Mathias and Elizabeth Kraeger Hoffert and was born in the town of Lewis, June 14, 1854. She was twice married, her first husband being Joseph Domser, and she later was married to Joseph Baltzar, both of whom preceeded her in death.
  Mrs. Baltzar has spent the greater part of her life in Lewis County with the exception of few years when she lived in Rome.
  She is survived by the following sons and daughters: Andrew and Joseph Domser of Boonville; John Domser of Constableville; Frank, Phillip and William Domser of Turin; Mrs. Otto Sillman and Mrs. Thomas Besock of Rome, and Mrs. Joseph Kraeger of Constableville; also by 24 grand children and two great grand children; one brother Joseph Hoffert of Constableville; and two sisters, Mrs. Joseph Sellman of Constableville and Mrs. Jacob Kirk of West Leyden.
  Funeral services were held from St. Peter's and St. Paul's church at Fish Creek, Tuesday, July 22. Rev. Father Brisson of Glenfield officating. Mrs. E. M. Blum sang. Burial was made in Fish Creek cemetery.

  Mrs. William Kraeger has received the sad news of the death of her mother Mrs. Baltzer Lehn at her home in Indianola, Neb., aged 80 years. Mrs. Lehn was born at Fish Creek, Lewis county, her maiden name being Mary Hoffert. Mr. and Mrs. Lehn moved to Indianola about 50 years ago. She leaves to mourn her loss five daughters and fives sons also two sisters Mrs. Jacob Kirk, West Leyden and Mrs. Elizabeth Baltzer and one brother Joseph Hoffert both of Constableville. Mr. Lehn died in 1925.

  DOUBLE WEDDING

  A double wedding took place June 28th at the home of Mrs. Elizabeth Reimiller, West Leyden, when her son, Henry Reimiller, married Miss Rose Hoffert, and Miss Geraldine Gautner, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Otto Gautner, Boonville, became the bride of Albert W. S. Huyler, son of Mr. and Mrs. Adam Huyler, Boonville. The ceremony was performed by Rev. N. H. Horr, pastor of the Christian Alliance church, Boonville.
  Both brides were attired in gowns of white chiffon and carried pink roses. Following the ceremony a reception was held.
  Mr. and Mrs. Reimiller will reside at West Leyden and Mr. and Mrs. Huyler will make their home in Boonville.

  WEST LEYDEN MAN DIES SUDDENLY
  JACOB KIRK, 84, one of the oldest residents of West Leyden, was found dead in bed last Thursday morning by members of his daughter's family, with who he resided.
  He was a son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Kirk and was born in a log cabin near Byrons Corners May 1, 1848. One Jan 10, 1872, he married Elizabeth Hoffert, who died Nov 13, 1931. About 16 years after their marriage the couple moved to a farm at Steuben Hill, near Rome. For the past 18 years they resided in West Leyden. In 1922 they celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary.
  Twelve children were born to them, nine of whom are living. Mr. Kirk was a staunch Democrat and always took pride in casting his vote on election day. He was a member of St. Mary's church, West Leyden, where funeral services were held.

  MRS. ELIZABETH HOFFART DIES AT AGE OF 90

  West Leyden, Spet. 23 - The death of Mrs. Elizabeth Hoffart occurred Friday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Jacob Kirk, about four miles west of this village, at the age of nearly 90 years. Mrs. Hoffart had been in failing health for quite a long time and her death, while not unexpected, brings sadness to a large circle of friends.
  Surviving are the following children: Mrs. Elizabeth Baltzer, Rome; John Hoffart, Fish Creek; Frank Hoffart, West Leyden; Mrs Joseph Seelman, Mohawk Hill; one brother, Andrew Kreager, Mohawk Hill; also 60 grandchildren; 112 great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren.

  THE LATE MRS. HARRIET SHAKE

  Rome, Jan 29 -- Mrs. Harriet Shake, aged 66, widow of Sebastian Shake, died Sunday at the home of her son, Michael Shake on the Wilbert farm in the Rome swamp. She suffered a severe cold last spring and had since been in failing health. She was born in Alsace, Germany coming to this country 50 years ago and settling in the town of Rome, where she had since resided. Here she married Mr. Shake his death taking place three years ago next month. Besides the son mentioned. she leaves the following sons and daughters: David, Joseph, Frank, and George Shake. Mrs. William Russi and Mrs. Lewis E. Austin, all of Rome. Also, one granddaughter, Mrs. Frank Hoffert living  in West Leyden.
